As with most converted railway bikepaths, some of the existing railway signs and station areas have been left intact, and some of the railway buildings have even been converted into bicycle rental places (though presumably you'll have brought your own.) There is also a cycling terminal near the midway point of the bikepath.
When you're ready to leave Yabakei, you will leave in style: it's the terminus for a marvelous 37-kilometer bikepath created out of an old discontinued rail line. The bikepath will take you more than half of the way to Hita, which is about a third of the way to your next stop, Yanagawa.
