Yet another example of the care with which this route has been prepared: believe it or not, in most cases there are separate approach paths for bicycles/pedestrians and mopeds. The sign on the left indicates the moped route; the one on the right indicates the way for non-motorized (bicycle/pedestrian) traffic.

Here is a particularly dramatic view of one of the more dramatic bridges on the entire route - the Tatara Bridge, supposedly the largest cable-stayed bridge in the world - with a huge freighter in the foreground for scale. It's an amazing experience to cycle directly across these bridges, and directly over ships like this.
