Back in Nago, I saw this unusual restaurant when I first arrived and had to go back for a closer look. It's lit up at night, so maybe it's actually a functioning establishment. I asked for recommendations on places to eat, and had excellent luck with the izakaya I chose. Another sign of American influence: an A&W restaurant nearby offered a bottomless glass of root beer...
A short plane flight later, I was cycling back over the bridges to central Kobe. This was certainly the most convenient cycling trip I've ever done in terms of effort made and distance traveled. Now that the airline policies on handling bicycles have improved (JAL carries bagged bikes FREE under 15 kg), I see a lot more plane travel in my bicycling future.
