Speaking of turtles: this was the only turtle I saw on Okinawa (I didn't visit the big aquarium near Nago), and I'm not sure whether this is intended to be a bus stop or just a place to rest. Still, I doubt I would feel comfortable sitting beneath such a heavy roof in an earthquake-prone country...

Wind power has come even to Okinawa: if you look carefully, you can see a windmill near the tip of the peninsula in the distance. Hokkaido has gone into wind power in a big way, and it appears that the same is beginning to happen at the other end of the country as well.
