This is looking back east from the site of the previous photograph. The rugged coast is clearly not suitable for a bikepath, or at least not for the foreseeable future. Contrast this sand with the stuff you saw yesterday. - the difference is not simply the slightly cloudier skies.

The sign that said "surfing beach" wasn't kidding - this is as close to a surf mecca as any I've seen in Japan. On this Golden Week holiday, it was mobbed with surfer guys and gals, most with their own surfmobiles.
