From here, you're forced to go inland for at least half of the coastline leading to Wajima. There's a pretty road that you can use to get back to the coast for about half the distance to Wajima, but it adds 25 km to the trip and so usually I can't justify it.

The town of Wajima is the first overnight spot for the Tour - and I expect it will be an overnight spot for your tour as well. Wajima is known for lacquer ware and one of Japan's most famous morning markets (asaichi). On my first Tour, I was disappointed that we had to leave so early that we couldn't see it. On the second Tour, I was smarter, reasoning that people in a small town get up early. So I did likewise and went into the center of town with some of the other riders and got to see the market before the Tour set out.
