For the most part, this is the "cruise" section of the trip. There are very few hills, except in one short section if you stick strictly to the coastline (and I recommend you do just that). The scenery is like this for virtually the entire way: not as spectacular as the western coast, but very pleasant.

However, the Tour takes a different route on the third day. Because the Tour starts and ends in Kanazawa, the route departs from the eastern coast and goes inland around Himi - on the years I did it, up the tiny road to the pass at Himi, which is an excrutiating climb followed by a lovely downhill through tiny villages lined with people cheering the riders on. After that downhill section, the route back to Kanazawa goes along quiet level country roads like this one.
