After you rejoin the main road, you get more ups and downs, but more pretty views like this. This is the Noto Kongo coast, one of the prettier coastlines along the western half of the Noto Peninsula.
The official name for these rocks is Hatago-iwa, but they're more often referred to by the more generic title "meoto-iwa" (husband and wife rocks). The rope connecting the islands indicates that the site is a Shinto shrine. There's a legend associated with them concerning a weaver who met a brigand along the road and tossed his loom into the water, whereupon it became an island.
