Leaving Wajima, you travel along Noto's northern coastline, a pretty stretch called the Sosogi Kaigan (kaigan meaning coast).

One of the impressive sights along the way is Senmaida, literally "thousand rice fields." If you've been to the Philippines (or Nepal), this much smaller scale terraced hillside may not be so impressive. In any case, however, don't judge it from this: photographs don't do it justice.
