Another view, looking back at the islands. To the left is a tunnel exit that would give you your first and only view of the islands as you whizzed by in a car along the main road. Luckily, a smaller, more cycling-appropriate road enables you to cycle right by them at your leisure.

Eventually, you can take a coastal detour from the main road and then link up with another VERY tiny but cyclable path leading to Yoshitsune no Funakakushi. As the name implies, this is a narrow inlet in which it is said that the famous Yoshitsune hid his boat from pursuers led by his brother Yoritomo. You can see the top of the long inlet just above the bicycle.
